The International Meeting on Substrate-Integrated Microelectrode Arrays, in short MEA Meeting, has a long and successful history of twelve editions in Southern Germany. The meeting has been organized by the NMI Natural and Medical Sciences Institute in Reutlingen, Germany, where in the late 1990s the first microelectrodes have been produced and successfully commercialized. The NMI together with its subsidiary NMI TT GmbH are actively developing and manufacturing microelectrode arrays.
Microelectrode arrays (MEAs) developed and established themselves as important electrophysiological tools for neuroscience, biotechnology and biomedical engineering, in basic and industrial research. They enable a wide range of applications including multi-site recording and stimulation followed by the analysis of bioelectrical activity of individual cells, networks, assemblies and in vivo preparation. The biennial MEA Meeting has been a unique platform for scientific exchange. We are very grateful to the NMI for its service to the MEA community and look forward to continuing collaborating.
With the Meeting in Vienna 2025 we, the Steering Committee, would like to continue this conference as a broader in vivo and in vitro neural and cellular interfacing meeting. We envision an international biennial conference, presenting recent scientific highlights and showcasing recent technological developments of spin offs and companies.
